Clarysta Feels the Hate

We're cool we're different
And we hate things
Yeah we hate things

Just learned something new and cool: Sting's son is lead singer, guitar and bassist for a band called Fiction Plane. Sounds a lot like his dad too.

Today's post is just to store info that I pulled off the forums. I tend to collect these so I can look all smart and stuff in teh GLFF. (in real life, I'm a really smart ditz)

Overview of Hate in LotRO

Every mob carries a list with it. The list only lasts for the duration of combat so every fight starts out fresh. The list is "people I hate" and the mob checks that list continually to decide who to attack. Everyone nearby goes on this list, while people who actively do things that the mob doesn't like will get "stars" next to their names. Having a "star" means the mob is not only aware of you but is seriously considering attacking you.

Things that will get a "star" put next to your name:
* Being the first person the mob sees
* Attacking the mob
* Using a healing skill on anyone that already has a "star" next to their name

Of the people who have "stars" next to their names, the one highest on the list has "aggro" and will be attacked.

Note that attacking and using healing skills will continue to increase the hate the mob has for you, such that the more you hurt it, or the more you heal people it hates, the more it will hate you.

You can also use some skills to decrease the amount of hate the mob has for you. Some classes can also transfer hate from other people to themselves, or from themselves to other people.

Hate is always relative to each specific mob. If you're fighting two things, they have two unique hate tables that they each check continually.

Best hate quote ever:

Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.” - Drew Care
